Textile in Focus

Textile in Focus at Cottenham near Cambridge is a great Textile Show to go to to pick up all your supplies for creating Mixed Media Textiles. It is a small show relatively but the content is fabulous and I meet up with lots of creative people. This year I took Irene as she hadn't been before and she loved all the displays and threads! Sandra and Mike had a wonderful stall as usual and most of us when we sat down for lunch discovered we had brought from Sandra but in all different colours.
Jamie (photo above) from Colouricious, who took us to India was there demonstrating and wearing a hand blocked printed shirt that she had made while we were there:) See our adventures HERE

Sharon Osbourne was as busy as ever and showing more of her amazing textured books. One day I will have such a collection of mixed media treasure :) Sharon visited us and gave a workshop at our local Embroidery Guild. See Sharon demonstrating how to colour fabric on my tech site HERE

Irene really enjoyed the show here she is talking to Jenny a regular displaying artist at the show. She demonstrates Contemporary Lace Making. She is also a member of my local Embroidery Guild.

Printing Elephants

Mixed Media Textile Tuesday and Thursday started with
printing elephants this year.
I brought a carved would block Elephant set while I was in Jaipur.
It has four layers and takes quite a lot of concentration to
to match the pattern sections up.
Everyone had a great time and the Elephants all look fantastic.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all.

I have started the creative new year very different to others due to my creative holiday with Jamie at Colouricious. See some of my fellow travellers and a taste of what we saw in the video below. I make an appearance after Lesley:) I can highly recommend a holiday with Colouricious.

I created a sketchbook of memories while I was there, which you can see some of the pages of on my portfolio site Art2inspire.co.uk  The front cover is in the photo above, so you can see it is no ordinary book! full of Bolliwood bling, extraordinary places and wonderful people. Just a taste of what we experienced.
I have a soft spot for India, its colour, food, artisans and culture, you can see more of my collecting and appreciation of India HERE

The Old Art Room has had a "make over" and it is all things Inspired by India this month. Sessions based and inspired on the colour and culture. Pop in and enjoy.
