Gill's Elephant
Gill and I went to India last year with Jamie and Colouricious.
A trip of a life time.

Gill has been inspired to make a 'Toran',
an India Celebration Door Hanging.
This is her sample for one of the elephants that will be at the
top of the hanging.
The fabric is dyed, resist dyed, printed and stitched,
then heavily embellished with beading.
Gill is going on to do her
Diploma in City and Guilds Creative Textiles,
Machine Embroidery.

Lady In A Sari
Gill has been preparing work and research pieces for her Diploma.
Her husband brought her a beautiful blue sari with gold embroidery trim.
We all wanted to see her in it in the studio.

Indian Inspired Wall Hanging
Bev has finished her 'India Inspired' Wall Hanging.
It is beautiful and will be hanging in the Open Studios Exhibition here daily,
at The Old School from the 3rd of June.
Open Studios will be starting here on the 24th of May but the main hall exhibition will be
open from the 3rd.

India Inspired Fan Quilt.
Irene was inspired by my trip to India and wanted to use sari silks, braids and
shisha mirrors.
This is the quilt before it has been quilted.
Indian Inspired Bags
I taught an 'India inspired' Workshop last year and Bev made these ones.
They are made with five 6" squares.
They are just so sparkly.

My Indian Elephant
I just had to make my own elephant after seeing all the amazing ones around Jaipur.
He is a toy pattern and I 'fussy cut' the 1960's fabric, so the patterns
were in appropriate places. The whole elephant then got a
good smothering of gold glitter.

Wearing a Saree
The afternoon Textile Thursday group wanted to see how you
put on a Saree.
Several willing volunteers were adorned!
Irene was kind enough to dress Meg.
She looked great in the saree and the colour,
Peacock Blue, beautiful!
Meg's Grand Daughters thought she looked wonderful too!
The Indian inspiration finishes the first week of February
but the items will be available for viewing and inspiration.
February Inspiration is Vintage, Lace and Recycle Texture.
