Irene Making

Irene has been busy this week making an Oriental inspired
purse for Muriel out of Chinese Silk.
A cushion kit brought at a show
and she made the Oriental inspired Dresden Plate
in class using one of the Studio tried and tested techniques
with frayee fabric!
What a busy bee!
See Muriel's Dresden Plate Cushion using the same technique
HERE

Rotary Mat Bag

We all love this colourful Rotary Mat Bag made by Barbara.
Barbara tried two different ways of quilting.
She used a walking foot and Machine Quilting on one side
and hand quilting on the other.
She admitted she has fallen in love with hand quilting and wants
to do some more.
Just a great bag for putting your Rotary Mat, Ruler and Cutter in.
We teach how to use the Rotary Cutter and equipment in
the studio.

Hexagon Quilt

First Quilt of the year on the large quilt table in
The Art Room Studio.
This is Leslie's Hexagon quilt that she has been working on
for the last five years.
All sewn by hand.
She has just finished putting on the bias and is
now continuing to quilt it.

Sylvia's Hexagon Quilt

Sylvia was given a selection of the hexagons already made
into flowers and she didn't want to go the traditional route
of just joining them together so inspired by a quilt Suze had made she
made the hexagon flowers into blocks to form her quilt.
See Suze's hexagon quilt HERE

Danni has nearly finished her very large quilt.
Her first ever Quilt!
It is made up of six and half inch squares.
The pattern is called 'Trip around the World'.
Danni made it for a Super Kingsized Bed and
made it in the  'Quilt as You Go Method'.
Taking sections, quilting them and then putting
them altogether.
Danni is putting on the last of the bias binding and she's

Well done Danni!

Fairy Cot Quilt

Irene has just finished this beautiful Fairy Cot Quilt and Rabbit
for her Grand Daughter's new baby girl, Lucy.
The fairies are cut out and appliqued on.
It is such a beautiful quilt.
The rabbit was a pattern I designed last month.
It has been made in so many different fabrics.
See the rabbits by clicking the written label below.

Duck Baby Quilt

Janet is making this cot quilt for a new baby boy on the way.
The Ducks are appliqued on and the quilt is made up of lots
of scraps too.

Megs Pink Quilt

Meg is now making the bias binding for this pink quilt for one of
her grand daughter's.
The bias is made from all the scraps left over so it's really
colourful too!.

First Quilt for Karen

Karen has just come along to the Textile Thursday Session
and she was a cross-stitcher but wants to learn Patchwork and Quilting.
She had been given a charm pack and started putting it together
as a quillo sized quilt.
The masking tape labels are to help sew together,
especially as you need to
collect it all together to go home.
Or move it due to space constraints.
If you don't label you often find you put them back
together in a totally different sequence.
This makes it easier.
Karen got to grips with the rotary cutter really quick and
learnt lots of lessons with the seven eights
(when making the half triangles).
Karen brought along the cross-stitch she had framed to give
to her Mum.
Beautiful!

Adrienne's Wednesday Afternoon Patchwork and Quilting Group

On alternate Wednesday afternoon Adrienne has a
hand patchwork and quilting group.
It is such a lovely group and it has such a lovely
atmosphere in the studio.
(Adrienne completed her City and Guilds part 2
with me).
The group is for beginners and experienced alike and
they are all working on their own
projects. Here you can see 'Bean Huts',
laid out on the large quilt table.
The group is having a chat about how it is coming along
and whats going to be added next.
Adrienne also is the wonderful lady who organises
the important coach trips out to Duxford and The NEC!
There are still a few places left for the March 7th,
if you want to contact THe Old Art Room for details.
The coach leaves from Swaffham and also picks up in
Kings Lynn.
I am really looking forward to it, as usual!
