Print Friday

I love everyday of my creative week sharing the studio and making art.
I often say I would like 'Ground Hog Day',
so I could teach and share all day and then have the day
again creating my stuff!
I prep each session, often many months in front so I can grow the
work and session.
During the last week I have been making my own stamp blocks
from children's building blocks and bits and pieces
around the studio.
These are now multi surfaced with print possibilities.
I then started printing in a sketchbook and fabric to try
these out.
I have used knotted string, t-shirt trim, sequin waste, braid, plastic tub
 and ric rac.
All applied with 'No Nails' as this is a glue which
I have found it sticks anything really well but
also can be washed under the tap to keep the stamp clean.
I love seeing how simple blocks using them in repeat can make
great combination patterns also
in readiness for 'Print City and Guilds'.
I have also started using them on my Banner for outside
the studio, made from nylon stock fabric,
used for kites.

Printing a Pom Pom

I love creating printed display pieces for the studio and this
is printed tissue and made into a hanging Pom Pom in the
print area.
I made a wall pom pom for the India Inspiration Month in January.

Textile in Focus

Textile in Focus at Cottenham near Cambridge is a great Textile Show to go to to pick up all your supplies for creating Mixed Media Textiles. It is a small show relatively but the content is fabulous and I meet up with lots of creative people. This year I took Irene as she hadn't been before and she loved all the displays and threads! Sandra and Mike had a wonderful stall as usual and most of us when we sat down for lunch discovered we had brought from Sandra but in all different colours.
Jamie (photo above) from Colouricious, who took us to India was there demonstrating and wearing a hand blocked printed shirt that she had made while we were there:) See our adventures HERE

Sharon Osbourne was as busy as ever and showing more of her amazing textured books. One day I will have such a collection of mixed media treasure :) Sharon visited us and gave a workshop at our local Embroidery Guild. See Sharon demonstrating how to colour fabric on my tech site HERE

Irene really enjoyed the show here she is talking to Jenny a regular displaying artist at the show. She demonstrates Contemporary Lace Making. She is also a member of my local Embroidery Guild.
