Jade Fabric Embroidery

Last month we made new fabric backgrounds out of many fabrics
and textures you wouldn't normally put together.
When painted with procion dyes, acrylic paints and mediums with
lots of stitch, machine and by hand.
The finished pieces look wonderful.
The piece above was made by Laurie.
Beautiful!

Ballet Dancer

Chris downloaded this pattern of a Ballerina from the internet. ( I will put up the link shortly).
It is for her Grand Daughter who is appearing in a dance show shortly.
It is going to be framed.

Muriel has Completed Her Floral Quilt

Muriel has finished her Flowers and Dresden Plate Quilt.
It looks stunning and I am in awe of the Machine Stitching..
Well done Muriel.

Machine Scraps Needlecase

Sandra practised free machine stitching all over scraps of fabric and made the background
fabric into a needlecase.

Ticking Rabbit

I don't often make toys but I did want to make a Rabbit this month.
I found so many rabbit patterns on the internet and amongst my
magazine and books but I wanted one
that was a little bit different and we could use up the embroidered tray and table cloths
we have all collected over the years because we can't bear to see them lost.
I made up a display of my family ones for the studio wall.

I encouraged visitors to look out their embroidered items and see whether
they were going to use them, keep them or now recycle them.
Using the many patterns available in the studio.
There were lots of kits too which were then cut up and used this month!

Soluble Machine Embroidery

Every week I teach different techniques within the theme of the month,
this month, it was, 'Flowers and Fun'.
Lots of Machine Embroidery using programmed stitches and
soluble embroidery.
Rona made a flower lace necklace out of the flower
pattern I gave out in class.
This flower pattern has been very popular.

Jean Little John's Embroidery

Jamila visited the studio for her monthly chat about her Embroidery Diploma,
development work and she showed me
her lastest acquisition, a Jean Little John Embroidery.
So, beautiful to see it up so close and be able to deconstruct the layering techniques.
See some of their work and them chatting on a You Tube video
