Textile Tuesday

Lots of Textile Inspiration and making on Tuesday as usual.
A bag made by Jo, inspired by an American trip.
The fabric brought there and it has lots of pockets.
Table mats and Hexagon Quilt made by Val.
Purple and Green Strips and
then the off cuts made into the next lot of mats.
The Hexagon quilt is made out of lots of Rose printed fabric
looks beautiful.
The layers put together on the quilt table
ready for quilting.
Blue and green recycled fabrics to make the centre of a
table runner.
The colourful squares are the ones left over from making
a nature inspired quilt.
These are going to be made into a wall hanging
that looks like a stained glass window.
More Birds joined the others on the Bird Cage display.

Blue and White Vintage Bag

I have just finished this Blue and White Bag
made out of vintage and recycled fabrics.
Some of the pieces came from my daughter's blouses.
These blouses were over 15 years old but I couldn't part with
them because I just loved the detailing.
Now they have been used I feel justified for keeping them.
The bag now hangs in the studio as part of the
'Vintage Display'

Jenny's Bags

When Jenny and her husband were on holiday
Jenny went along to a Patchwork Class and they made a bag by hand.
It's made with the 'Orange Peel Method'.
You hem a circle and wrap it round a square,
which has a piece of wadding in between
and then stitch round like quilting.
This makes you a square and then you oversew the squares together
to form the bag.
Line it and add handles
We all fell in love with the shape of the Batik Bag and I will update
the ladies name who designed the bag shortly.

Jeans Bag

Every session in the studio we do 'Show and Tell'.
Sylvia was chuckling when she took hers out of her bag.
"I made this bag out of a big pair of Jeans
and I like it so much I am keeping it for myself",
she said. When we looked at the detailing of the bag we could see why.
Its great!
Now do remember Sylvia is in her 80's :)
Sylvia is also affectionately known as a
'Making Elf Too!'

Happy To Sew Bag

Chris has been playing with her new sewing machine.

We have been using lots sewing stamps, printing fabrics.
The sewing notions Chris chose looks great on this bag.

Kims New Bag

Kim decided she wanted to make a bag that she could carry all her things to class in.
She didn't mind what colour or what fabric.
A bag of recycled fabrics had come into the studio that morning and I thought it would be
a good idea if we sorted through it and saw if there was anything suitable.
Kim loved the stripes in this fabric and there was enough of it to make up the sections.
Its a great bag and is such a useful size.
I had made mine last year for a challenge out of pink upholstery fabric a friend gave me knowing I don't make many pink items.
