Inspired by my trip to the Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio in London last year, I thought I'd do a reveal of the journal I created. I'm sharing a short edit of it on here for you but if you'd like to see the full video, please click HERE. New pattern! Delectable Mountains Runner.

Available to buy now - both online and in the studio, I'm pleased to share with you the new runner for this year - Delectable Mountains Runner. This runner presents as glorious swags that undulate the entire length of the pattern. As you can see from the image, it makes a fantastic Christmas runner but is also great to make in all-year-round projects, depending on what fabrics you use. The pattern uses step-by-step instructions, complete with colour photos to help you to create your runner. We've kept the price low at £4.99 and as I said, it's available to buy physically in The Old Art Room, or using Paypal to download the PDF pattern. Please click HERE to buy the PDF.

Photo Transfer

Front of Photo Quilt

This quilt was inspired by a new Grand Daughter that is just a month old when I write this post.
A Grand Dad to be who just happens to be an Artist and Writer asked me if there was any way photos and drawings could be transferred onto fabric to make a gift for his daughter, Son In Law and new baby Grand Daughter?
A Grand Daughter who was to be born at the end of July in Australia. Visit planned to deliver said gift in the middle of September so time of the essence.
When he told me the story of 'Twizzle Bump', the affectionate name for said 'bump' and what he wanted to include I was up for the challenge.

Over several weeks of planning, painting pictures, collecting fabrics and transferring photos onto a photo fabric. Excitement Grew as Baby Coral was born and those photos could be added to the design.
I over the years have transferred many photos etc onto fabric in many different ways and this prepared fabric is the best for endurance so it can be washed and lasts.

It was then a matter of patch working all the pieces together and interpreting the significance of each photo and matching it up with appropriate fabrics and the location within the design.

Detail of Photo Quilt showing new Grand Daughter 'Coral

Back of Photo Quilt
The Photos are:
Swans of Perth, Australia where Coral was born
Light Owl, her surname
Her first photo
Hospital Cot Label
The morning sky in space the time she was born
A Kangaroo and Joey in pouch
and of course
the flags of the parents Britain and Australia

The Photo Transfer Paper I can highly recommend.
The Benefits are,
It was easy to use.
Went through the printer easily.
Didn't Smudge.
Took well to ironing.
Good quality for piecing.
Held together well as a final quilt.
Washed well.
Didn't fade.(Although we know after many uses, light and washes this may fade over time like any photograph).

Buy on Amazon now and enjoy the process.

By clicking the link and purchasing the Inkjet Photo Paper vis this post, we are given a small donation at no cost to yourself. Which is really appreciated, Thank You.

If you need any help or extra advice I am always available, details in the contact page.

I am also now available for teaching via Facetime as I know many are unable to visit the studio but still want the experience. Contact me via email for information and what we can offer.

Enjoy creating Best Wishes Jane

Great Bristish Sewing Bee

The Great British Sewing Bee is back on the televison BBC2 9pm:)
Great fun and real inspiration for those who want to get back into dressmaking or playing with their sewing machines and overlockers. We do lots of dressmaking, tailoring, alterations and sewing in the studio from beginners to those who want to learn that little bit more. We also have Rita who is a wiz at tailoring and I love the remakes, a recent one a vintage wedding dress to a cocktail dress and the off cuts into a Christening Gown.
I recommend the Great British Sewing Bee 'Sew Your Own Wardrobe', pattern book. (You can purchase by clicking the link below and it will take you through to Amazon).
Easy to follow instructions that take you through the capsule wardrobe, any size which is always needed because none of us fit off the coat hanger.
I am sooooo glad Patrick is still part of the presentors as he gives the polish and eye candy.
Esme the Fashion Guru and Jo Lycette gives it the humour and fills in the episodes, not sure how much he really knows about sewing though? He has nails that could rival mine at times:))) Without the sparkle though!

Sew Week One; All about Cotton:)

Wiggle Dress
Jeans Transformation
Cotton Jumpsuit

To obtain the pattern book and the Great British Sewing Bee Sewing Books, Click the link below, there are also great sewing patterns available, including jumpsuits:)))

*Remember there is a special at the moment for The Gutterman Sew All Threads. We use them in the studio for sewing absolutely everything and are great value.
Shop by clicking below and shopping on Amazon to get this great deal and help The Old Art Room.
